Today, I can't wait to tell you we went to Dr. Sun at Sen Gardens  with Ms. Sam's class.  Susan was our leader and she told us that 6,000 years ago there was a scholar living in these very rooms.  There she told us all about the symbols.  the turtle means long life, the bat means good luck, and the Sphynx meas fire because it has long red, Orange, and gold tail feathers.  When she told us that I said what about the Koi.  then she handed every teacher a deck of cards to flip and then she told us that we were going to have a scavenger hunt.  She led us around the garden and she also showed us where the emperor's helper studied.  when we went in we saw bird cages and there we learned that back then a bird was the most popular pet and the scholar would take the whole cage off the shelf and walked it to the park.  Not like now when we put a leash on our pets.  She took us all the way across the garden and the thing that we was was a robins nest and there were eggs inside. We got split into groups. Susan told us where some duck eggs were. there were four tiny duck eggs. When we went to out on the scavenger hunt our group found almost everything. When she called us in she used a real gong. We could have heard her for miles. then it was time to go. I had a radical time. It will be so cool this summer.   By:-C.D.
I had a great time at Dr. Sun Yat Sen garden this morning! The leader was called Susan. She said" the scholar was so smart that he became the emperor of China! After that we went to the scholar study! She told us about the momma robin's eggs on top of the nest. On the scholars study! It was because the crow figure it out and ate all the eggs. After that the momma robin came the next Summer to hide a new nest under the bridge. Then we saw a Beautiful garden in the middle. There were cool looking pattern with rocks on the ground beside a rock statue on the garden. The  garden was full of animals, ponds, plants and caves!! The garden was in the middle of the house because the family love nature all the way so they decided to put it in the middle of the house. Their symbol is turtle because it mean long life because turtle lives for a long time!!! They also have a symbol called bat because bats and good luck sound the same! The phoenix is a symbol for fire. Phoenix are friends with dragon also phoenix is called well phoenix or fire bird!!!!!! Susan said "Scavenger hunt time. I will give your lists of animals to find them around the house. My group is Tristan,Alex,Damien,Pear,Joseph and Ms. Quon! After that we were called by a real ultra loud gong! Finally we return back and peacefully went down for recess!!!!!!!!-by J.L.
Do you now what happened today?  Me and my class and Ms. Sam's class went to Dr. Sun -Yat Sen gardens.

When we got there, we waited for the guide, Susan to come.  When she came, we went to the other side and explored the Scholar's house, the lakes, and the study.

After we looked around, we had a scavenger hunt!  We split us up into groups.  My group found everything except the turtles and the phoenix feathers.  The Dr. Sun-Yat Sen gardens was a very beautiful garden and I hope I visit it again. - by S.F.

When we got in the house Susan told us about the garden. She asked questions  One of the questions she asked the class was who has a garden.  Some people put their hand up. Then she asked who has a garden in the back of your house?  Some people put their hand up.  Next she asked who has a garden at the front of your house. And not much people put their hands up.  Then Susan said do you know that a garden can be at the side of your house, the front of your house and the back of your house.  But this house is very special because there is a garden in the middle of the house. So when you go out of any room you'll see the garden.  After that she told us that the scholar loved birds so much he would walk the birds. Not on a leash, in a bird cage.  So if he would go out for tea with his pet bird he would ask for a chair for his bird. When Susan was finist talking about that Susan started talking about the symbols.  She said that the phoenix stands for fire, the bat stands for good luck, and the turtle stands for long life. After that Susan showed us the whole garden along the way she told us about the garden.  Susan said lots of people lived in the house I think 8000 people lived here. After she finist showing us the whole place Susan said we will go on a scavenger hunt.  Susan split us in six groups.  I was in Ms. Quon's group 8 people was in my group after Susan finist splitting us in groups she gave two lists of things to find then she said after you find all of the things try to find me.  After that the groups skaters off.  My group didn't find much of the hidden things while we were looking for the things I heard a gong  the gong went it's time to look for Susan so all of the groups followed the sownd all the was to Susan then Susan said "you fownd me"!  then she took us to the place where we started and said who all of them. two groups put their hands up then she said who all most fownd  all of them  some groups put their hand up then Susan said who fownd a little bit my group and some other groups put their hands up .  then Susan said did you find the bat, the frog, and the seahorse  my group said no we didn't find any of them  then she talking after she finist talking we all said bye.  I wish I can go there agen.-by S.D.
