Our class has been learning about Force and Motion and Magnets this first term in Science. Here are some things we learned...
- a force is a pull - C.B., N.T.
- magnets pick up metal objects - J.C.
- attraction is sticking together when the different poles of a horseshoe magnet touch - K.D.
- magnets can make paper clips and other magnetic things move through the table - S.D.
- gravity is pulling us down, for instance when we jump up we fall down because of gravity - you can't see it, but you can feel it because it will pull you down, like if an apple falls that's gravity - C.D.
- attraction and repulsion are forces that come from magnets - D.E.
- when the magnet sticks to another magnet it needs to be not the same pole - South and North stick together, South and South go apart - T.F.
- A force is something that makes something move - it is a push or a pull - S.F.
- whenever I throw something up, it goes back down. That is gravity - M.H.
- when we get a magnet and a paperclip, they attract - L.K.
- if you get South pole and North pole together it is attraction - it sticks together. If it's South pole and South pole it is repulsion - they goes away because they don't like each other. North pole and North pole together is the same as South pole and South pole - J.L., I.W.
- magnets are a bar and a horseshoe and a wand - T.P.
- when the magnet sticks to the same magnet it will push out, this is called repulsion - S.S.
- Sir Isaac Newton found an apple fall down from a tree and figured out that gravity pulls things down - W.Y.
- gravity is if I jump I come back down - A.B.
